What European brands are now required to document

EU CSDDD

Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive — requires European companies to identify, prevent, and mitigate adverse human rights and environmental impacts across their supply chain. Affects all major EU importers from 2025 onward.

German Supply Chain Act

Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz — requires German companies to conduct human rights and environmental due diligence across their supply chains. Already in force for large companies; expanding to mid-market.

EU Green Claims Directive

Requires brands to substantiate sustainability claims with verified evidence. Self-declaration of sustainable manufacturing will not satisfy this requirement. Third-party verified credentials — LEED, OEKO-TEX — will.

REACH

Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals — governs chemical substances in textile products entering the EU. All Bengal Origin Co. shipments include REACH compliance documentation.

Chemical management

REACH compliance approach

All garments sourced through Bengal Origin Co. are subject to our chemical management protocol, which requires factories to comply with the EU REACH restricted substances list. Test reports from SGS or Bureau Veritas are available for all fabric and trim types on request.
